Windows Registry
FAQ

Q. What is the Windows system registry?
A. The Windows registry stores vital
process information for your PC. Most Windows applications
write and store data on the PC's registry during
installations, unintallations, downloads, etc. System
components also store and retrieve configuration data through
the Windows registry. The registry details all the
processes for your computer and dictates how programs run. The
registry is the basis for the Windows platform, and any errors
or corruptions in the registry can cause serious problems with
PC performance.
Q. What causes registry problems?
A. Registry problems can be caused by
a wide number of things. Some problems occur due to
invalid or missing keys in the Windows registry. Most come from
normal PC operations such as intallations, downloads, or
uninstallations and from the addition or removal of software or
hardware on your PC. Problems are common in PCs over 3 months
old, and most errors are so small we do not notice the effects.
However, as these errors build up over time our PC begins
to exhibit abnormal behavior.
Q. How do I know if I have registry
problems?
A. Windows registry errors are often
indicated by system crashes, blue screen crashes, program
lockups, and a slower operating speeds. To find out for sure,
it is reccomended that users run a FREE
REGISTRY SCAN and FREE
REGISTRY DIAGNOSIS to determine if the
problem lies with the registry.
Q. What can I do to avoid Windows registry
problems?
A. The most important thing you can do to
avoid registry problems is to use a registry repair tool on a
regular basis. A tool like RegCure will keep
your computer running at peak performance. Best of all,
these types of tools can be set up to run automatically on a
daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Here are a few of the most common actions that cause
registry errors…
Frequently installing or uninstalling programs
Deleting software which was not properly installed
Deleting startup programs
Changing hardware without removing old drivers
Installing programs with embedded spyware
To keep your computer running smoothly, try to avoid the
previous actions as much as possible. But keep in mind that a
good registry repair tool will help you to clean out your
registry and get your computer running at optimum
performance.
Q. How do I fix registry problems.
1. Manually fix each error after running a FREE REGISTRY
SCAN. This is not reccomended as one little error on your
behalf can result in system failure. Please only attempt if you
are very familiar with operating systems.
2. Hire a computer repair shop to fix your PC. This can be
costly.
3. Use a reputable registry cleaner or registry repair
software to fix your PC for a fraction of the cost. These
software programs will quickly scan, diagnose, and repair your
PC to its normal functioning.
